Cooking Mama is a cooking-simulation game developed by Office Create (now known as Cooking Mama Limited) released for the Nintendo DS in 2006 and later ported as Cooking Mama: Let’s Cook in 2015. It is the first game released in the Cooking Mama series. The game is a compilation of mini games centered around cooking a large variety of dishes and requires the player to complete tasks such as chopping vegetables, stirring ingredients, sautéing ingredients in a frying pan, and any other standard cooking task. Cooking Mama was an instant success; however game critics gave the game mostly average reviews. Some reviewers praised the games fun gameplay mechanics whilst others felt the game was too repetitive after a while. The financial success of this game led to a long list of sequels and spin offs such as Camping Mama and Gardening Mama. In November of 2008, PETA created a parody titled Cooking Mama: Mama Kills Animals, protesting the game for having recipes containing meat in it.
