CAT 2026 Quant Strategy: Which topics should you prioritise, how should you select questions in the exam, and what can you improve in just 7 days?
If your CAT Quant mock scores are stuck, you struggle to identify easy questions, or you spend too much time solving difficult problems, this video will help you build a more structured approach to Quantitative Aptitude.
I’m Tushar Bhakte, an IIM Bangalore alumnus, and in this video, we’ll break down CAT Quant preparation into 3 practical parts: topic-wise analysis, real-paper question selection, and a 7-day quick-fix action plan.
PART 1: CAT QUANT TOPIC-WISE ANALYSIS (2021–2025)
We analyse five years of CAT Quantitative Aptitude questions across 15 slots, covering 330 questions in total.
📊 Understand the importance of three major topic groups:
Arithmetic: Percentages, Profit & Loss, Averages, Mixtures & Alligation, Time & Work, Time-Speed-Distance and more.
Algebra: Quadratic Equations, AP/GP/Series, Inequalities, Modulus, Logarithms, Functions and other important subtopics.
Geometry: Triangles, Circles, Polygons, Quadrilaterals, Mensuration and Coordinate Geometry.
You’ll see the topic-wise question counts from the compiled CAT 2021–2025 data and learn how to use historical frequency to prioritise your preparation without blindly ignoring other topics.
PART 2: QUESTION SELECTION USING THE ACTUAL CAT 2025 SLOT 3 PAPER
Solving Quant is not just about knowing formulas. It’s also about choosing the right questions in the limited time available.
Learn the 3-Round Quant Strategy:
🟢 ROUND 1 — EASY QUESTIONS: Solve immediately when the method is clear and the calculation is manageable.
🟡 ROUND 2 — MODERATE QUESTIONS: Mark them, move ahead and return when you have secured the easier marks.
🔴 ROUND 3 — DIFFICULT QUESTIONS: Attempt these only if time remains and you can identify a workable solving route.
We apply this strategy to questions from the CAT 2025 Slot 3 Quant paper and discuss how to judge difficulty based on the solving approach, familiarity and expected time—not just the topic name or question number.
The goal is simple: stop getting emotionally attached to difficult questions and learn to make better decisions.
PART 3: YOUR 7-DAY CAT QUANT QUICK-FIX PLAN
What should you do after watching this video?
Follow a focused 7-day action plan to improve your question selection, practise important topic areas, revisit mistakes and test your approach under time pressure.
✅ Diagnose your biggest Quant score leaks.
✅ Prioritise topics using your preparation level and the five-year analysis.
✅ Practise timed questions and identify your Round 1, Round 2 and Round 3 buckets.
✅ Revisit questions you could have solved but missed in your mocks.
✅ Finish the week with a review of your progress and a clear action plan for the next mock.
Remember: You do not need to solve every Quant question. You need to identify the questions you can solve, secure those marks, and use your remaining time wisely.
YOUR TASK
Open a CAT 2025 Quant paper and label every question:
R1: Solve now
R2: Park and return
R3: Difficult — attempt only if time remains
Then compare your initial selection with the actual time and accuracy you achieve.
💬 Comment 3-ROUND STRATEGY and tell me your biggest Quant challenge: concepts, calculations, or question selection.
Note: The five-year topic counts are based on the compiled CAT 2021–2025 question classification used in this video. Historical frequency is a preparation guide, not a guarantee of the CAT 2026 paper's topic distribution. Difficulty classifications also depend on the student's familiarity and solving approach.
Master Quantitative Aptitude for CAT by learning to solve complex equations and data interpretation problems systematically.
This video provides a clear walkthrough of math problems typically found in CAT exam papers. If you are preparing for MBA entrance exams and find it difficult to break down word problems or interpret charts, this session offers a repeatable study routine to help you improve your accuracy. By focusing on the logic behind each equation rather than rote memorisation, you can refine your approach to Quantitative Aptitude.
Beyond solving individual problems, this guide covers how to structure your daily preparation and manage time effectively. Consistent practice using this methodical approach is essential for anyone aiming to improve their CAT exam preparation score. I also offer online mentorship for those seeking personalised guidance on their study strategy.
