My Mastering Standard Setup 🎧 | LUveler Freeware VST
Simple, effective, and driven by a passion for great sound! ❤️
Today, I’d like to share my personal mastering standard setup for the entire mix.
I deliberately work with a streamlined signal chain. For me, mastering isn’t simply about making a mix louder. It’s about improving the balance, enhancing cohesion, and making the music sound as natural and powerful as possible.
1. Mid-Signal Low Cut at 25 Hz
First, I use a low-cut filter at 25 Hz in the mid signal to remove very low-frequency content that isn’t necessary for the particular mix. At the same time, I make sure not to weaken the essential bass frequencies unnecessarily.
2. Side-Signal Low Cut at 250 Hz, 24 dB/Octave
In the side signal, I apply a low-cut filter at 250 Hz with a slope of 24 dB per octave. This allows me to control low-frequency content in the sides and helps keep the bass more centered and focused.
This is a deliberate tonal choice, not a setting that works equally well for every mix.
3. Mix Glue Compressor
Next, I use a glue compressor to bring the entire mix together in a musical way. I adjust the attack and release according to the tempo, groove, and character of the music directly in my DAW.
My goal is to achieve a cohesive, lively mix without sacrificing too much of its natural dynamics.
4. LUveler – Freeware VST Plugin
Next, I use LUveler. I really appreciate it when tools like this are made available for free, giving us the opportunity to expand and improve our own mastering workflows.
A big thank you to the developer for the work behind this plugin and for making it available to the community!
5. Youlean Loudness Meter
Finally, I check the loudness using the Youlean Loudness Meter. This allows me to monitor the LUFS values and true-peak levels so I can evaluate the final result more accurately.
Because in the end, it’s not just about loudness — it’s about how the music actually sounds.
My Conclusion
This is my personal mastering standard setup for the entire mix. I deliberately keep it simple and use it as a starting point. Of course, I adapt the settings depending on the music, the mix, and the desired result.
I’m sharing this setup with you because I genuinely enjoy audio engineering and love passing on useful experiences and ideas to others.
Thank you so much for watching and for sharing your passion for music and great sound!

I played this track entirely on my MIDI controller. Every note you hear carries my personal Timing and Velocity.
Timing: I didn't lock the notes to a rigid computer grid (no heavy quantization). The rhythm breathes naturally, reflecting the true human emotion and the vibe of the moment.
Velocity: This represents the changing dynamics and touch sensitivity. By striking the keys softly or firmly, the volume and tone change instantly. This gives the digital instruments a deeply human, emotional, and expressive soul.
