The 2025 Skoda Octavia mid-size car continues to break convention by offering a traditional wagon body-style in a world that's dominated by higher-riding SUVs. With its direct rival, the Mazda6, approaching the end of its life as we know it, the Czech model finds itself being cross-shopped with larger vehicles, including the Toyota RAV4 and Mitsubishi Outlander, among others.
That said, the fourth-generation Octavia has doubled down on its wagon push with a midlife facelift that's headlined by a new entry-level grade, dubbed Select, which aims to offer buyers the best bang for their proverbial buck. As such, its sharp drive-away price comes standard with all the things you need nothing you don't, including a 110kW/250Nm 1.4-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine.
In this expert review, CarsGuide Contributing Journalist Emily Agar and her family of three spend a week living with the new Octavia Select wagon to find out if it really is a good buy.
