Lecture 38 : Talcott Parsons - Voluntaristic Theory of Action and Unit Act | UPSC Sociology Optional

In this lecture of our Sociology series explains Talcott Parsons’ Voluntaristic Theory of Social Action and the concept of the Unit Act. Understand how Parsons attempted a synthesis of utilitarian, positivistic and idealistic traditions to explain social action, and how the unit act is built from elements such as the actor, ends, means, conditions and normative orientation. The lecture also discusses the role of values and norms in guiding voluntaristic action, setting the foundation for Parsons’ later structural functionalist framework. Ideal for UPSC Sociology Optional, UGC NET Sociology, and other competitive exam aspirants.
