An elbow tattoo has to look right with the arm straight, bent to 90 degrees, and resting at 45. So I marked the elbow, moved his arm through all 3 positions, and kept the mark that held center in each.
Day 1 is a rose window on the elbow, tattooed at Seven Tattoo Studio in Las Vegas. A round cathedral window, radial from the center out, which means dead center or it reads crooked from every angle.
Day 2 is an hourglass tattoo on the outer forearm, set inside more cathedral window architecture, placed so the new work wraps around the arm and reads as a single piece instead of separate tattoos.
Measure twice, cut once. Nick builds custom homes for a living, so he did not need that explained to him.
The white highlights at the end are what made it pop.
I'm really happy with how these 2 days came together.
The rose window looks finished. It isn't. There are spots left in it, but I put them where nobody is going to look.
The forearm is a different story. That part is obviously not done, and there are more sessions booked before this sleeve is closed out.
If you enjoy black and grey realism, sleeve projects, portrait work, cathedral window tattoos, rose window tattoos, hourglass tattoos, and stencil and design footage, subscribe and follow along for the rest of it.
Can you find the unfinished spots in the rose window? Watch 12:05 and let me know in the comments.

Thinking about a sleeve of your own?
"Before you commit, we map it out first. Placement, flow, full direction. You have to be completely on board before I pick up the machine.
Submit your idea and the team will review it. If it is a fit, we set up a Vision Call, a short video call where I confirm the direction." Daniel Rocha
