December 27 - Saint John the Evangelist: The Story of the Beloved Disciple

On December 27, in the heart of the Octave of Christmas, the Church celebrates the extraordinary life of Saint John the Evangelist, the Beloved Disciple. Chosen to be the closest to Jesus, the apostle who reclined at the Master's side at the Last Supper and followed Him to the Cross, receiving Mary as his mother. His life was marked by miracles and visions: he survived an attempted martyrdom by poison and exile on the island of Patmos, where he wrote Revelation. As the "eagle" of theology, he lifted us to the heights of the mystery of the Incarnate Word.
