A new Halloween afternoon tea has arrived above Borough Market. I visited Roast on its opening day to try The Witching Hour and find out whether the food is as impressive as the setting. This is an afternoon tea with an unusually substantial savoury course: a pork and sage Scotch egg, pork and chorizo sausage roll, and beef croquette, alongside a finger sandwich, pulled pork roll and open salmon sandwich. Then come the black charcoal scones and Halloween desserts, served among Roast’s elaborate autumn decorations.
