A woodpile that fills itself every winter and a note from the man who built the cabin. A backcountry logbook with warnings written in it by a fire guard who died in 1963. A window that fogs from the outside, and the one rule everyone at that camp follows. Boot prints that circle a cabin in the snow, one lap a night, for eighty years. And a pair of wooden snowshoes on a porch that go missing whenever somebody is out in a storm. Scary stories for sleep Quiet scary stories for sleep: no jump scares, no loud sounds.
