Bluebell Railway “Spring Steam Gala” 2026 | 20/03/26 & 22/03/26

This weekend would see the Bluebell Railway hold their annual “Spring Steam Gala” for 2026 with multiple visiting locomotives including 2999, W8 and 75069. I was able to briefly head down to capture some of the action! Starting on the Friday, I decided to spend the day at and around Horsted Keynes. I had planned to get on the triple header down to East Grinstead to get it over the viaduct on the return however a poor misinterpretation of the timetable by me saw me get on a train in the wrong direction! Moving onto Sunday, I firstly headed to one of the best spots along the line - Freshfield Bank, where I would see 73082 with the two terriers on the rear and then visiting 2999 shortly after. The late running of this meant I missed the double header back down the line, which of course ran on time, meaning that I therefore missed the opportunity to see the triple header once again. Despite this, I did a quick replan and returned to Horsted Keynes to see the standard and bulleid double header depart. I then briefly headed to Birch Farm crossing for 80151, before then finally getting the shot over the viaduct to conclude a great gala! #heritage #steamlocomotive #steamtrain #bluebellrailway #steamgala
