"We Will Return" - Soviet Patriotic Song (Мы вернёмся)

Welcome to Radio Pravda, comrades! 📻 25 December 1991, half past seven in the evening. The red flag comes down over the Kremlin, and seventy years end in a few quiet minutes. English lyrics: We Will Return Over the Kremlin, one December evening, they lowered the flag in silence. Snow was settling on our shoulders, windows went dark across the land. You laughed, you danced, you split up whatever you could grab, you said: it's all over, as if the wind had blown it away. Sleep, sleep, gentlemen, but don't sleep forever! In the middle of the night a bell will ring out, we will break your sweet sleep! We will return! We will return! We did not die, we waited, the way grain waits beneath the snow. Our children knew our songs, our grandson will sing them again. There will be morning, there will be a banner over a land that has woken up, truth will be with us again, and the country, and you and me. Sleep, sleep, gentlemen, but don't sleep forever! In the middle of the night a bell will ring out, we will break your sweet sleep! We will return! We will return! You will dream of our marches, the stars, the flags, the factory whistles, and you'll remember that once you were afraid of us, enemies. Sleep, sleep, gentlemen, but don't sleep forever! In the middle of the night a bell will ring out, we will break your sweet sleep! We will return! We will return! We will return! #sovietmusic #redarmy #ussr #sovietsong #wewillreturn
