For five years, I watched my Maa fight cancer. Through pain, illness and difficult days, she still worried about me more than herself. Before leaving this dunya, some of the most important words she left with me were: “Remember everything I told you.” “Take care of your health.” “Don’t exchange your akhirah for this dunya.” Those words never left me. This song is about the silence that remains after a mother is gone — the empty chair, the familiar rooms, her voice still living in your memory, the things you wish you could say one more time, and the realisation that no amount of worldly success can replace Maa. But this is not only a song of grief. It is also a dua. Ya Allah, forgive my mother, have mercy upon her, illuminate her grave, accept every moment of suffering as a means of raising her rank, and grant her the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous. Allahummaghfir laha warhamha, wa ‘afiha wa’fu ’anha. O Allah, if there was anything lacking in my service to her, complete it through Your mercy. Let every dua I make reach her as light. Ameen.
