CMC Launches Colombo’s First Elderly Day Activity Centre

The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) launched Colombo’s first Elderly Day Activity Centre on 29 September 2026 at the Nagaswatta Child Community Centre in Kirulapone. The initiative was launched by the Public Health Department of the Colombo Municipal Council, with the support and collaboration of the Public Assistance Department, Indigenous Medicine Department, Health Curative Department, and Sports and Recreation Department. The inauguration ceremony was held under the patronage of Her Worship the Mayor of Colombo, Ms. Vraie Cally Balthazaar. The event was attended by the Municipal Commissioner, Heads of Departments, CMC staff, and a selected group of senior citizens from the Nagaswatta area. The establishment of the Elderly Day Activity Centre marks an important step towards promoting the well-being, social engagement, active participation, and quality of life of senior citizens in Colombo.
