Ameeras is a collection of compositions by Mandar Karanjkar. As a student of Indian saint and mystic literature, Mandar has discovered works of unparalleled insight and unimaginable experiences. As a musician, it was only natural to compose some of the poems he appreciated the most. The word Ameeras appears in the poetry of Sant Raidas, which loosely translates as Amrit, or the divine nectar and the potion of immortality. Mandar has chosen to name his collection of compositions 'Ameeras' as the power of these immortal words can lead us to find the eternal within our mortal bodies. These compositions have been in the making for the past decade. Mandar considers every composition to be a work open to interpretation. Thus, in this series, he invites musicians to interpret them in their unique voices and styles. In this episode, we present a bhajan by Sant Meerabai. In her simple words, Meerabai evokes a multitude of emotions. The poetry depicts the separation from the lord who is perceived as beloved.
