I thought I was over it. Then I saw you again, and somehow all the progress I thought I'd made disappeared in a few seconds. I kept thinking about how strange it is that sometimes knowing more doesn't give you closure — it just gives your mind more things to replay. So I went home, picked up my guitar, and started playing the same progression until it felt like the thought itself was looping. That's where “Better Before I Knew” came from.
