Ancient humans had no word for willpower, no discipline and no motivation, and the work still got done every day. This is how, and what it says about why you have to force yourself to work.
A persistence hunter walked for hours behind an animal with no boss, no deadline and no pay. He never had to make himself do anything. You know exactly what your task is, and you still have to drag yourself into it. Something sits between you and your own work.
This film follows that gap back to where it appeared. Hunting, where the result was visible the whole time. Meat sharing, where effort was not paid but witnessed by the whole camp. Farming, the first work with months between effort and result, and the first place procrastination becomes possible. And the factory, which cut the thread between a worker and the thing he made, and replaced it with supervision. The office inherited that, and later the supervision moved inside you.
You are not lazy. You are a persistence hunter with no tracks to follow.
