The idea came to life in 1143, when Premonstratensians from Steinfeld in the Rhineland settled at Strahov. They first built a wooden monastery, then a Romanesque basilica, which was later replaced by stone buildings. The abbey endured fires and plundering during the Hussite Wars, and declined until the late 16th century, when Abbot Jan Lohelius revived it through reconstruction and the addition of new facilities. His successors continued his work, and in 1627, the relics of St. Norbert, founder of the order, were brought to Strahov. Despite damage during the Thirty Years' War and later conflicts, the monastery was rebuilt in the Baroque style, including the famous Theological Hall (1679) and Philosophical Hall (18th century). Closed under the Communist regime in the 1950s, Strahov Abbey was returned to the Premonstratensians after the fall of Communism in 1989. Since then, extensive restoration has been underway, preserving it as one of Prague's most remarkable monastic complexes. https://maps.app.goo.gl/FRi3jpEt6u8wy... Prague Castle ( Pražský hrad) is a castle complex in Prague, the Czech Republic, built in the 9th century. It is the official office of the President of the Czech Republic. The castle was a seat of power for kings of Bohemia, Holy Roman emperors, and presidents of Czechoslovakia. The Bohemian Crown Jewels are kept within a hidden room inside it. According to the Guinness Book of Records, Prague Castle is the largest ancient castle in the world, occupying an area of almost 70,000 square meters (750,000 square feet), at about 570 meters (1,870 feet) in length and an average of about 130 meters (430 feet) wide. The castle is among Prague's most visited tourist attractions, attracting over 1.8 million visitors annually. https://goo.gl/maps/DdzQ9h8S999CUgZC8 Join the membership of the channel:    / @perceptionphilosophy   Instagram:   / perceptionphilosophy   Recorded in 4k Perception Philosophy © 2025 07.12.2025 Czech Republic
