'There’s a blessing in the pressing!' "Beaten For The Light" is a soulful gospel declaration inspired by Exodus 27:20, where God commanded Israel to bring pure olive oil - “beaten for the light” - so the lamps could keep burning. The olive did not endure the pressing without purpose. The oil produced through the process became fuel for the light. And sometimes, our lives feel much the same. There are seasons when we feel the weight. Seasons when we do not understand the pressure, the breaking, the stretching, or what God could possibly bring from what we are experiencing. But "Beaten For The Light" reminds us that pressure does not have the authority to cancel purpose. What God brings forth through our experiences can become oil that strengthens us, encourages someone else, and allows His light to keep shining through our lives. “The pressure didn’t cancel purpose. The weight didn’t stop His plan.” This song does not celebrate pain or suggest that every painful experience comes from God. Instead, it celebrates the truth that God is able to redeem what we have endured and bring something meaningful from it. The pressing is not the destination. The light is the purpose. There’s a blessing in the pressing. There’s still oil in you! Keep the light burning!!! “Command the Israelites to bring you clear oil of pressed olives for the light so that the lamps may be kept burning.” Exodus 27:20 (KJV) “…pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always.” If this song speaks to you, share it with someone who needs encouragement in their season of pressing.
