B1.1 Carbohydrates & Lipids | IB Biology
Welcome to Parsons Biology!
In this lesson we explore B1.1 Carbohydrates & Lipids from the IB Biology syllabus.
We'll investigate the chemistry of life's most abundant biological molecules, discovering how carbohydrates and lipids are built, broken down and used by living organisms. You'll explore the structure and functions of sugars, starch, glycogen and cellulose, examine the roles of glycoproteins in cell communication, and investigate how lipids provide energy storage, insulation and the structural basis of cell membranes.
By the end of this lesson, you should be confident with the key understandings, applications and skills required by the IB Biology course.
