NDIS fraud syndicate targeted in Operation Benz | Sunrise

Operation Benz has uncovered an alleged NDIS fraud scheme where a participant is accused of submitting fake claims to their own legitimate NDIS business, keeping all the money. Police raids across Brisbane, Cairns and far north Queensland seized nearly $200,000 in cash, cryptocurrency, gold and silver, with the investigation targeting more than $5 million allegedly stolen from the NDIS by a suspected criminal syndicate. The government estimates fraud accounts for approximately 8% of total NDIS spending and has increased enforcement staff from 30 to 500 people to combat the problem.
