గత 50 ఏళ్లుగా ఈ మంటలు ఆగలేదు || Darvaza Gas Crater in Turkmenistan
The Darvaza gas crater, also known as the "Door to Hell," is a massive, perpetually burning natural gas pit located in the Karakum Desert of Turkmenistan. The crater was created in the 1970s (commonly cited as 1971) when Soviet geologists drilling for oil accidentally penetrated a vast underground cavern, causing the ground to collapse and swallow their drilling rig. Fearing the release of toxic methane gas into the nearby village of Derweze, scientists ignited the escaping gas, expecting it to burn out within a few weeks; however, due to the sheer volume of reserves, the fire has continued to burn for over 50 years
