Custom George Nakashima style live edge Walnut coffee table

Start to finish making a custom George Nakashima style live edge walnut coffee table.The slab is a grafted California black walnut-English walnut. The transition of the graft line is visible on the narrow end of the slab. Several bowtie inlays and resin fill on the voids and a wooden base. My customer James approached me at the farmers market in Little Italy, San Diego, with the request to make a replica of a table made by George Nakashima. Similar to one his parents had when he was younger , with a hint of my own artistic expression. This was the last commissioned furniture piece I made before closing the shop in San Diego and moving to the desert. I truly enjoyed making this one. Thank you James for the opportunity and the gift of allowing me to craft this piece with artistic freedom. It was a pleasure learning more about the Nakashima style and his conoid furniture series.
