Rayagada witnessed an emotional farewell to popular political leader and social worker Y. Venkateswara Rao, popularly known as Konda Babu, following his demise. Konda Babu was a BJP State Executive Committee member, former President of the Rayagada Truck Owners Association and a well-known social worker. His death has reportedly left people across Rayagada deeply saddened. Thousands of people gathered at his residence for his last darshan, while more than 6,000 people reportedly joined his final procession and bid an emotional farewell. Several political leaders and public representatives, including BJP leaders, Minister Nityananda Gond, Rayagada MLA Appalaswamy Kandraka, Koraput MP Saptagiri Ulaka and former MLA Jhin Hikka, paid their last respects. The final procession passed through Ringer Road, the BJP office and Truck Union office before reaching Seriguda cremation ground, where the last rites were performed.
