奥多摩湖は、多摩川を小河内ダム（おごうちダム）によって堰き止めてできた人造湖で「ダム湖百選」に選定されています。奥多摩湖は首都圏有数の観光名所の一つで湖畔には様々な見どころ・観光施設があり、また東京都を代表する紅葉名所の一つとしても知られています。 大麦代（おおむぎしろ）園地は、奥多摩湖の小河内ダム近くにあるパーキングエリアで、背後の丘陵に散策道や展望台が整備されています。ここは奥多摩湖随一の桜名所としても有名ですが、紅葉風景も素晴らしく、奥多摩湖随一の絶景を満喫できます。散策道の入口には野生動物の侵入を防ぐための金網と扉が設置されており、ドアを開閉して中に入れるようになっています。中腹にある「八方岩展望台」からの展望は奥多摩湖と周囲の山々が見渡せ、一見の価値があります。 小河内神社（おごうちじんじゃ）は、奥多摩湖中央部の半島にあり、小河内ダムの底に沈んだ、小河内村の神社を集めて合祀された神社です。境内や周囲の湖畔も含めて、展望が開けた場所があり、紅葉狩りを満喫するビューポイントとしても素晴らしいロケーションです。 「山のふるさと村」は、奥多摩湖の南岸にある自然公園施設で、奥多摩湖の水辺へ降りられる数少ない場所の一つです。キャンプ場や宿泊できるログケビン施設も併設しており、湖畔を歩く「奥多摩湖いこいの路」も整備されています。 月夜見（つきよみ）第一駐車場は、奥多摩湖の南の丘陵を登っていく「奥多摩周遊道路」でもっとも眺めの良い展望地で、小河内ダムと奥多摩湖、その背後にそびえる山々を見渡せます。「日本百名山」の一つである雲取山など、奥多摩や秩父山地の峰々が望め、眼下には奥多摩湖が水をたたえています。 奥多摩湖へのアクセスは、青梅市街から多摩川沿いに走る国道411号を利用すると便利で、御岳渓谷や鳩ノ巣渓谷を超えて西へ進み、最後にいくつかトンネルを抜けると奥多摩湖の湖畔に出ます。小河内ダムでは「水と緑のふれあい館」や「展望塔」を見学できますし、ダムの近くに大麦代園地の広い駐車場があります。ここから「八方岩展望台」へ通じる散策道も整備されています。 湖岸道路沿いにはいくつかパーキングがありますし、映像でご紹介したビューポイントを巡るのもオススメです。 Lake Okutama is an artificial lake created by damming up the Tama River with the Ogouchi Dam, and has been selected as one of the "100 Best Dam Lakes". Ogouchi Shrine is located on a peninsula in the center of Lake Okutama and is a collection of shrines in Ogouchi Village that were sunk to the bottom of the Ogouchi Dam. The shrine grounds and the surrounding lakeside have an open view, making it a wonderful location for viewing the autumn leaves to the fullest. Yama-no-Furusato Mura is a nature park facility located on the south shore of Lake Okutama and is one of the few places where you can go down to the waters of Lake Okutama. It also has a camping ground and a log kebin facility where you can stay overnight, as well as the Lake Okutama Ikoinomichi path, which runs along the lakeside. From the Tsukiyomi Parking Lot No. 1, you can enjoy the best view on the Okutama Loop Road, which climbs the hills south of Lake Okutama, overlooking Okukotama Dam, Lake Okutama and the mountains that rise behind it. You can see the peaks of the Okutama and Chichibu Mountains, such as Mt.
