Why do we feel anxious even when life offers us more comfort and convenience than ever before? Why do we keep worrying about the future, become attached to people or outcomes, and repeatedly revisit painful memories from the past? In this video, Dr. Karishma Ahuja explains four common patterns that contribute to anxiety and shares practical lessons inspired by the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita. 1. Resistance to Change Changes in our jobs, relationships, routines, or circumstances can make us feel uncertain. The Bhagavad Gita reminds us that happiness and sadness, success and failure, are both parts of life. Learning to accept change can help us approach difficult situations with greater patience and flexibility. 2. Obsession and Attachment When our minds become excessively focused on a person, desire, or outcome, our thoughts can begin to dominate our lives. This video explores the connection between attention, attachment, desire, and frustration, and explains why maintaining balance in our daily routines and relationships matters. 3. Worrying About the Future Questions such as "When will I get a job?", "Will things work out?", or "When will my situation change?" can keep us trapped in worry. Dr. Karishma shares a simple exercise: divide a page into two columns. In one column, write down the actions within your control. In the other, list the things you cannot control. Focus on your efforts, take practical steps toward your goals, and learn to release excessive worry about outcomes. This reflects the Bhagavad Gita's teaching on focusing on action rather than becoming attached to its results. 4. Holding on to the Past Repeatedly revisiting painful memories, resentment, and past conflicts can make it difficult to remain present. The video encourages forgiveness, self-reflection, prayer, and the practice of letting go of negative thoughts so that we can direct more attention toward the life we are living now. Practical Exercises From This Video Practice slow, mindful breathing when your mind feels restless. Write down what is within your control and what is not. Bring balance to your work, sleep, relationships, and daily routine. Take moments of silence and reflect on your thoughts. Practice forgiveness and set an intention to begin the day with goodwill. Use prayer or spiritual reflection if it is meaningful to you. The central message is simple: focus on your efforts, learn to accept change, maintain balance, and avoid allowing the past or an uncertain future to consume the present. This video shares spiritual perspectives and self-reflection practices. These practices are not a substitute for professional mental health care. If anxiety is persistent, severe, or affecting your daily life, consider seeking help from a qualified mental health professional. Which lesson do you need to practice most in your life: accepting change, reducing attachment, releasing future worries, or letting go of the past? Share your answer in the comments.
