Bikaner Camel Festival 2024 - Rajastan, India

Held in the desert city of Bikaner in Rajasthan, the Camel Festival celebrates India's long relationship with the camel, once the lifeline of the Thar Desert. Visitors can watch spectacular camel races, camel dances and even camel jumping performances, while beautifully decorated animals compete in contests for the most elaborate ornaments and artistic fur cutting patterns. Rajasthani musicians and dancers entertain the crowds throughout the event, while some local men proudly display astonishing moustaches curled high above their faces, sometimes reaching remarkable lengths. The nearby ICAR-National Research Centre on Camel showcases the importance of the animal and offers a variety of camel products, including milk, sweets and handicrafts.
