This twelfth part is the very last part of the series: The long road that the Surinamese and French Guianese Maroons had walked to get to where they are today. In this last part, I will complete the balance and the conclusion. I will then answer the question of what we have achieved since the 18th century, when our ancestors forced the recognition of our freedom and human dignity through intensive guerrilla's. And since we began to participate in Surinamese national politics in 1963, to affect the allocation of resources to meet our needs or desires as a group. Dit twaalfde deel is het allerlaatste deel van de serie: De lange weg die de Marrons aflegden om te komen waar zij nu zijn. In dit laatste deel rond ik de balans en de conclusie af. Ik geef dan antwoord op de vraag wat wij bereikt hebben sinds de 18e eeuw, toen onze voorouders middels intensieve guerrilla’s de erkenning afdwongen van onze vrijheid en menselijke waardigheid. En sinds wij in 1963 begonnen te participeren in de Surinaamse nationale politiek, teneinde de allocatie van middelen ter leniging van onze behoeften of verlangens als groep, te beïnvloeden.
