On 29th July 1976, a few days ahead of his UK "No Reason to Cry' Tour, which began at the Crystal Palace Garden Party, Eric Clapton and his band appeared at a 'warm up' gig at Hemel Hempstead's Pavilion. The 'private' (i.e.unadvertised) gig was made available by invite or by limited ticket sales, direct from the venue itself.
This is a recording direct from the soundboard. It is badly mixed on the first track but soon settles down to a well-recorded show, despite Clapton's obviously unrehearsed set of songs. On the night, Clapton was avoiding a lot of lead guitar, leaving it to George Terry and alcohol had a lot to answer for!
