Relationship Types & Participation Constraints in ER Model Relationship types describe the degree of a relationship — how many entities are involved in it. Participation constraints define whether all or only some instances of an entity take part in that relationship. In this video you'll learn: ✅ Unary relationship – within the same entity (e.g. Employee supervises Employee) ✅ Binary relationship – between two entities (e.g. Student — Enrolls — Course) ✅ Ternary relationship – involves three entities ✅ N-ary relationship – involves N entities ✅ Total participation – every entity must take part (e.g. every employee must work for a department) ✅ Partial participation – participation is optional (e.g. some employees may not manage any project) 📌 Total participation is shown with double lines in ER diagrams; partial participation with single lines. 📚 Database fundamentals for beginners | #ERModel #Database #Relationships
