FAS TV Series 6 Ep 11 - Return to Arran: Farming, Food and FAS Connect

In this episode of FAS TV, we visit two businesses on Arran to explore how diversification can support farm resilience, create new opportunities and add value to local agricultural produce. At Arran Dairies, Managing Director Alastair Dobson provides insight into the company’s new premises and how milk produced by the sole dairy farm on the island goes to make their renowned Arran ice-cream. We also visit Balgowan farm, where Matthew, Jen and Tod share their experience of farming on Arran and discuss how diversification, including horse riding, has developed alongside the core farming business and the realities and challenges of island life. The episode highlights the important role that diversification can play in supporting sustainable farm businesses, strengthening local supply chains and helping retain value within island communities.
