This part of 512's story would not be complete without the story of P5-921, the Furlong auxiliary pilot who was assigned to be 512's wingman. Originally born in the Jupiter colonies, like many Jovians her age, she enlisted in the Furlong Armed Fleet when the Jupiter war broke out. After Furlong's defeat, she continued to work for the corporation, frequently relocating as Furlong needed. Though she showed promise as a pilot, her career was sabotaged when, under the pretense of receiving latest gen augmentation surgery, a jealous executive arranged for her to receive faulty 5th gen augmentations, to open up her position for a relative of theirs. Though she survived, the augmentations left her permanently debilitated, and her performance as a pilot fell significantly behind. When Furlong deployed a small team to aid Elcano, 921 was sent purely as a consultant, but Flatwell needed someone to look after 512 and her often reckless fighting style, as most RLF fighters had started to consider 512 to be bad luck, after several previous wingmen perished. Although 512 remained distant at first, it would become clear soon enough that the two were well suited for each other, an inseparable pair for the rest of the war. Following the end of the Coral War on Rubicon, 921 would elect to stay with the Rubiconians, serving along with 512 in the newly formed RSDF. p.s.
