NH66 Construction: Dust, Traffic & Daily Struggles 😓 | Edappally to Varapuzha to Koonamavu

NH66 construction journey from Varapuzha to Koonamavu and back to Edappally! 🏍️ This was a short ride originally planned to cover Edappally Underpass and Chaemmayam Bridge, but I found several unused clips from my earlier rides through the NH66 construction stretch. So, here's the journey I finally put together! Starting from Varapuzha Bridge around 5:30 PM, the evening sun was beautiful. But as I reached the other side, the reality of travelling through NH66 construction became clear. 🚧 In this ride, you'll see: • The beautiful evening view from Varapuzha Bridge • Heavy traffic and an ambulance struggling to get through • Dust and difficult riding conditions for daily commuters heading towards North Paravur, Cherai and nearby areas • An unexpected off-road-like stretch and pothole-filled service roads • Construction activity and visible progress near Koonamavu Junction • The condition of the road on the return journey towards Edappally • The inconvenience caused by traffic diversions and one-way arrangements near Varapuzha • Lane discipline issues, including vehicles entering the wrong lane on narrower roads • The familiar evening lights and activity around Edappally Junction One thing that stood out to me was how little honking I heard during much of this ride. Perhaps people have realised that honking makes little difference when traffic is moving slowly through construction zones. While construction is progressing, the dust, uneven surfaces, potholes and diversions make daily travel challenging. Two-wheelers, autos, buses and cars all have to deal with these conditions, and vehicle maintenance costs can add up. Elderly commuters and local residents also have to navigate these difficult stretches. Hats off to everyone who travels through these roads every day. Hopefully, the remaining work progresses smoothly and commuters get to experience a safer, more comfortable journey soon. This video captures my personal experience on this stretch.
