Experiencing Trona Railway

Founded in 1914, Trona Railway is a 30-mile shortline railroad based out of Trona, California. With challenging gradients of up to 2% carrying thousands of tons of potash and borax, Trona Railway is possibly the best place to hear some old EMDs roaring through the emptiness of the Mojave Desert. While unfortunately I have yet to capture an uphill run, this collection of videos showcases a portion of switching operations at their Westend Facility, some mainline action, and even the departure of a Union Pacific coal train bound east.
