In this beneficial and important video, Shaykh Dr. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-ʿUmaysān (may Allah preserve him) exposes the dangerous extremism of the Ḥaddādiyyah and clarifies the just and balanced methodology of Ahl al-Sunnah regarding the great Imāms of Islam, al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī and al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Nawawī (may Allah have mercy upon them both). The Shaykh explains that Ahl al-Sunnah distinguish between the mistakes of the scholars who sincerely strove to follow the truth and the methodology of the people of innovation whose foundations are built upon opposing the Qur'an and the Sunnah. He demonstrates that the errors of a scholar are refuted while his virtues, service to the Sunnah, and lofty rank are preserved, in contrast to the unjust path of those who seek to erase their legacy altogether. In this lecture, the Shaykh discusses: • The false claim that al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Ḥajar and al-Nawawī were Ashʿarīs in the absolute sense. • The balanced methodology of Ahl al-Sunnah in judging scholars who erred in certain issues while remaining defenders of the Sunnah. • Why the efforts of al-Nawawī and Ibn Ḥajar in serving the Qur'an and the Sunnah cannot be compared to the methodology of the people of innovation. • How the scholars of Ahl al-Sunnah refute mistakes with justice, fairness, and knowledge, without transgressing against the honour of the scholars. • The dangerous methodology of the Ḥaddādiyyah in declaring scholars astray, declaring some of them disbelievers, and calling for their books to be burned. • The deceptive tactic of using al-Nawawī and Ibn Ḥajar as a means of defending contemporary innovators and weakening the call of Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah and Imām Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb (may Allah have mercy upon them). • The tremendous service of Fatḥ al-Bārī and the enduring legacy of al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Ḥajar in defending the Sunnah, the Companions, and the authentic narrations. • The attribution of the treatise concerning the creed of the Salaf regarding the Letter and the Voice to al-Nawawī, and its significance according to a number of contemporary scholars. May Allah reward the Shaykh abundantly for his beneficial clarification and make us among those who judge with justice, adhere to the Book and the Sunnah upon the understanding of the Salaf al-Ṣāliḥ, and remain firm upon the truth until we meet Him.
