Innovating in the MaaS Landscape | Webinar Series – Part 1

The first webinar of the Innovating in the MaaS Landscape series, held on 30 October 2026, brought together three European research projects, Tec4MaaSEs, M4ESTRO and MaaSiveTwin, to present their approaches and technological developments in Manufacturing-as-a-Service (MaaS). The webinar featured three presentations: 1. Volume–Variety Dynamics in a Manufacturing-as-a-Service Environment | Tec4MaaSEs Dr. Stavros Lounis, University of Macedonia An overview of key MaaS challenges, including the coordination of multi-actor manufacturing processes, and the technological enablers suited to different manufacturing requirements, drawing on three representative value networks. 2. From Disruption to Resilience | M4ESTRO Dr. Bruno Puzzolante An overview of how trusted data sharing, AI-based optimization and human-centered decision support can help manufacturers anticipate disruptions and adapt their production and supply networks, with examples from three industrial use cases. 3. From Mines to Manufacturing: Satellite-Enabled Supply Chain Intelligence for Critical Raw Materials | MaaSiveTwin Dr. Michael Hess and Georgios Livanos An overview of critical raw material supply chain vulnerabilities, rare earth value chain mapping and the use of Earth Observation data and predictive digital twins for supply chain monitoring, forecasting and scenario analysis. The presentations were followed by a Q&A session addressing AI-based optimization, human-in-the-loop decision-making and the different technological requirements of MaaS applications. This webinar is the first of three sessions in the Innovating in the MaaS Landscape series.
