Throughout my whole entire life, I’ve only seen 1 of these in public. It was in a small clothes shop in a mall, and that clothes shop went out of business around 6 years ago. The mall has since been renovated, and there’s barely any stores that actually use fans since the AC is so good. That fact alone translates to little interest towards this fan, and even though there’s an online shop which still has a few of these in stock, I never felt the urge to get one. One day, I started thinking about the obscure fans of the 2000’s which have nearly gone extinct, and how interesting those fans actually are in retrospect. So I decided to finally get this fan just to see if there’s anything special about it other than the odd rectangular rear grille & weird slanted profile which can’t be adjusted. What I saw when I first took it out of the box was a so-so fan with creaky plastics & peeling switch stickers. The bushings were a bit stiff, but oiling them didn’t do much good. I wasn’t expecting much of it, and left it unused for quite some months since I had better things to worry about. But then when I was relaxing in my workshop in a cool night without the AC running, I decided to turn off the ceiling fans & run this fan instead to see what it can do. With no compressor & fan sounds from the AC nor any distracting work, I could finally enjoy this fan to its fullest, and what I can say is that I really under estimated this fan. Yes the performance is way below my older 12” box fans, but the range of the airflow plus the noise this fan makes is really soothing! The low speed on this fan is absolutely perfect for sleeping, because while this fan is actually louder than my 12” Mitsubishi ‘Compac’ & National ‘Pana Cycle’ A.K.A the fan in my profile picture, this fan generates a really nice white noise when the 2 aforementioned older fans just stay nearly silent. I can’t find a perfect setting to use medium & high speed yet, but I’ll say that this is a really good fan even if I only find 1 of the speeds actually useful, because finding a fan that has the perfect sound & airflow ratio to fall asleep into is very hard in my experience. #Sekai #BoxFan
