7FFA Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance versus cheating AI
All my other videos published to date have been wins.
I am that vain what can I say?
This is a loss.
I thought I would show a loss that I thought was a specially good game where I survived the early game, did a lot of things right, built good defense but failed to stop the Cheating AI from cannibalizing the other Cheating AIs before I was ready to kill it or at least contain it's expansion. It built nukes faster than I could build nuke defenses and it was "Strategic Launch ad infinitum" or at least until it wore me down and killed me. Showcase for one of many things that can go wrong versus Cheating AI if you are not absolutely hardcore on the ball about containing their access to mass extractors all game long. So far it seems impossible on other maps but maybe I'll figure it out eventually.
I really hope the world is NOT on a path to Nuclear War ever. This was terrible.
Moment of interest:
00:35:30 The first AI died (to another AI) a few seconds after this point. You can see because the name goes grey in the top left name roster. I do not think it was a nuke at this point because I do not hear a "Strategic Launch Detected" announcement withing a few minutes before it.
00:37:30 A few seconds after this the second AI goes down. I am not sure what is killing them or if it is the same AI responsible or two different AIs. It's not a nuke (yet) and it's too fast for a single AI to be doing it with ships or land (hover over water or amphibious under or on it) or Experimental Land units I think so that leaves air, air experimental or artillery or two AIs killing their neighbors individually close together.
00:47:30 The third AI goes down, again unsure the cause but I catch a glimpse of the commander explosion's fireball and you can also see it on the mini-map. This was probably done by the late game nuker.
01:07:35 The Strategic Launches (nukes) have started to fall regularly by now with a new announcement every few minutes. I think it probably started earlier but not sure when and it is definitely picking up the pace by now. I can not build anti-nukes fast enough to keep up though I try. Because I have more anti-nukes than the other AI it is killing them first. This one became a cannibal because I let it have mass extractors on the main island for too long without killing them and then it started eating the others and taking over their islands. I think it has 3-4 plus it's start at this point? Or that is what it looks like on radar at least.
01:20:12 Two nukes are launched one after the other. I know I have run out of anti-nukes so I need to move my commander before they fall. He escapes in a Tech 3 shielded air transport in the nick of time from my big island base back to my starting base which will fall shortly.
