Peace talks over Ukraine are going nowhere fast, but Myroslava Gongadze says diplomatic efforts aren't dead just yet, with Ukrainian and European officials heading to Washington for another round of discussions. Meanwhile, Russia is stepping up its deadly attacks on Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure, killing civilians and leaving millions facing the threat of power outages. Gongadze argues that Ukraine has already agreed to a ceasefire, so the real obstacle to peace is Putin's refusal to stop the fighting. She also warns that Russia's war has already spilled into NATO territory through drone incursions and other hostile operations, making the threat to Europe much bigger than Washington seems willing to admit. As for Turkey, Gongadze believes President Erdoğan could help broker a Black Sea ceasefire, but insists that any deal must put the responsibility for ending the violence squarely on Russia.
