My best friend has no idea, but in a few hours I'm going to be standing outside her hotel room in New York. And to pull it off, I did something that genuinely terrified me: I flew there completely alone. If you know me, you know this is so not a me thing to do. I get nervous doing things by myself. But this friendship is worth every bit of it. We have known each other since 2011, fifteen whole years, back when we were both still in India, and now here we are, about to reunite in a city that belongs to neither of us.
