Some things you lose all at once. The rest, you count one by one. 🎻
One by One is a cinematic orchestral rap track about everything we keep counting long after it's gone: the keys that no longer turn, the trains that never came back, the rent that eats the bread off the plate. It opens with a classical, Mozart-inspired orchestra and a dreamy chorus, then drops into a defiant, high-energy verse that refuses to be silenced. Dedicated to anyone who's been told to stay quiet and decided to count out loud instead.

🎧 Lyrics:
Hold the light, the night is long,
every door we lost still hums our song.
Count the stars till they are gone,
one by one, we carry on.
One key for the door, one key for the past,
one key on the hook where you left it to rust.
One key in my fist, and I'm holding it fast,
one key doesn't turn. Some locks don't trust.
Some windows face east into mornings of gold,
some windows face walls and a neighbor's dim light.
Some windows I covered so I'd never be told
how the street turned to winter the week of your flight.
One coat on the chair still holding your shape,
one coat at the station, too thin for the frost.
One coat I wear out when I need an escape,
one coat in the closet for all that we lost.
Count it, count it, one by one,
every lock they built and every lock undone.
Count it loud till the counting's done,
you can take it all, you'll never take the sum.
One phone on the table, face down for a week,
one name I keep meaning to delete, and I don't.
One voicemail I play when I'm too tired to speak,
one text that I type every night. And I won't.
Some trains leave on time, some never arrive,
some carry the brides and some carry the dead.
Some trains are the reason I learned how to drive,
some run through the night on the rails in my head.
Half of the staircase is light, half is smoke,
half of the steps I just skip in the dark.
Half of the promises held, half just broke,
half of this heart is a bench in a park.
Count it, count it, one by one,
every lock they built and every lock undone.
Count it loud till the counting's done,
you can take it all, you'll never take the sum.
One mirror cracked when I swore at my face,
one mirror at Mom's with my school photo taped.
One mirror that lies and says I'm in place,
one mirror that shows me the man I escaped.
Some months the rent eats the bread off the plate,
some months we are kings on a three-dollar wine.
Some landlords knock and some debts just wait,
some nights I just sign on the dotted line.
So here's where your counting runs out,
no more ones, no more halves, no more some.
You can lock up the man, not the shout,
and the morning's already come.
One by one.
One by one.
Now you count.
Hold the light, the night is long,
every door we lost still hums our song.
Count the stars till they are gone,
one by one, we carry on.
