From a concert in Mumbai in Feb. 1987. Panditji sings some rare ragas.
Pt. K.G. Ginde - vocal
Pt. Yogesh Samsi - tabla
Pt. Tulsidas Borkar - harmonium
Krishna Gundopant Ginde, known K.G. Ginde, moved to Lucknow at the age of 11 to train under the legendary musician Pt. S.N. Ratanjankar. After moving to Mumbai in his mid-20s, he began teaching at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. This experience led him to be appointed, in his late 30s, as the principal of Vallabh Sangeet Vidyalaya.
Yogi (as he likes to be called) is a disciple of Pandit Taranath Rao and Ustad Allah Rakha Khan. His accompaniment is always attuned to what the main artist is doing and so he is quite restrained here.
Pt. Borkar initially learned from Pt. Vishnupant Vast and Chota Gandharva. He later received advanced training from Shri Madhukar Pednekar. Pt. Borkar is considered to be one of the elite harmonium players, along with Pt. Appa Jalgaonkar and Pt. Purushottam Walawalkar.
