Bei Dir War Es Immer So Schön / Frank Petrilli

The title translates roughly to “It Was Always So Beautiful With You.” It was written in 1938 by composer Theo Mackeben with lyrics by Hans Fritz Beckmann. it’s part of the pre–World War II European popular music tradition, often categorized as Schlager (German popular song) or cabaret-style music. It became especially popular in gypsy jazz circles, with players like Django Reinhardt recording it as early as 1938.
