Can a $9 Plastic Repair Stapler Actually Fix Broken Plastic? I tested this $9 plastic repair stapler on medium, thin and thick plastic to see whether it can make a genuinely strong repair. Thin plastic was a mess, medium plastic took some practice, but on thick plastic two hot staples created a repair I couldn’t break again by hand. The IR thermometer showed more than 150°C at the staple, and after the tests I opened the tool to see the simple mains-powered transformer and electronics inside. It’s definitely a very specific tool — but if you regularly repair broken plastic parts, for $9 it actually works.
