Forget Gaming OptiPlex Builds — Buy THIS Instead

I bought an old Dell Precision T5810 workstation for just £65 and decided to find out how far this thing could actually be pushed. We start with the original Xeon E5-1620 v3 and Quadro K620, take a look at what this workstation can do in its stock configuration, and then give it a much-needed upgrade. The main event is a brand-new 16GB Radeon RX 9060 XT — a GPU that costs several times more than the entire computer it’s going into. After upgrading the system, we put it through a selection of gaming benchmarks at 1080p, including Counter-Strike 2, GTA V, Cyberpunk 2077, Dying Light and Forza Horizon 6, to see whether an old Dell workstation can still make sense as a gaming PC in 2026. I also take a look at some much cheaper GPU options for anyone who actually wants to build one of these on a sensible budget — because, realistically, not everyone is going to put a brand-new RX 9060 XT into a £65 workstation.
