I Heard My Own Voice on Her Baby Monitor at 3AM

At 3:04 in the morning, the baby monitor picked up a second voice in her room. It was mine. I was downstairs. I hadn't said a word. Three hundred euro a night, cash, to sit up with a 91-year-old woman in a house on a lake in Connemara. No experience needed. Must follow instructions EXACTLY. Seven rules. Never go up unless she rings the bell. Never tell her your name. In this house, you're Declan. And never, ever open the lake door. I lasted seven nights. An original horror story written for TheGargalons. 🎧 Best with headphones. Lights off.
