Spring Break Enforcement | New Smyrna Beach 03.17.2026

This past week, and continuing into the weekend, our officers are assisting the New Smyrna Beach Police Department with Spring Break enforcement. On March 17th, Crime Suppression Team officers were conducting foot patrol on Flagler Avenue when they observed several individuals loitering between businesses. As the subjects emerged, a strong odor of a marijuana was also present. Our officers attempted to stop the individuals when one of them thought it would be better to try and run off. A foot pursuit ensued, and the subject was quickly apprehended with the use of a Taser. The subject, a 17-year-old male from Orlando, was arrested and charged with loitering and prowling, resisting an officer, and possession of cannabis. Due to the charges being misdemeanor, his name and identity is not being released.
