Dawn is breaking over the snow-dusted mountains. Lanterns still burn at the old stone gate, the stones below wet and shining, and far down the valley an inn rests in the blue mist. A traveler stands at the gate, her eyes hidden beneath a woven hat. Behind her, a towering guardian of red metal and dark iron kneels in silence, one great hand resting on the stones beside her. It does not move. It only watches over the road. Perhaps they have come a long way together. Perhaps not. The rest is yours to imagine. The Red Guardian at Dawn is an original fantasy journey in music, built around the pipa, with the guzheng, dizi and erhu woven in. Crisp, plucked notes break out of the silence in short runs, stop for a breath, and turn back toward a melody that feels strangely familiar. The guzheng answers warmly, the dizi drifts through the open spaces, and the erhu adds a low, quiet ache. Bold, a little mysterious, and never loud for the sake of it. Chinese instruments, a Japanese-inspired land of mist — and a road that belongs to no map. Let it keep you company while you read, create, focus, or simply wander somewhere far away. Somewhere unfamiliar, yet somehow like home.
