One year build of the 2026, Toth LP, six string guitar, in 30 minutes

The 2026 Toth LP features a five-piece mahogany and walnut neck in a through-the-body configuration. A two-way titanium truss rod sits below a quarter-inch ebony fingerboard. The fingerboard has a 12-inch radius and uses 21 nickel-silver frets along with a stainless-steel ZERO fret. The ZERO fret eliminates pitch problems associated with the nut and encourages the playing of open strings. Because the ZERO fret sits in a slot that is part of the nut, replacement due to wear is very easy. All of the inlay is designed by Paul Martin Toth and hand-cut using either mother-of-pearl or Ablam, which is made from shards of abalone compressed in epoxy. The body is hand-sculpted and consists of the five-piece neck-through-the-body construction, with mahogany wings and a flame maple cap. Attached to the body is a black-dyed mahogany armrest. The armrest has evolved over three decades and was developed on Toth Stringed Instrument basses, including the Five String Workhorse, Four String Fretless, and Five String Short-Scale Workhorse (see: Tothstringedinstruments.net). The armrest is built around a 1"W × 1/8"Th × 5"L aluminum shank. The shank is epoxied into the base of the armrest, facing the body. Three flathead hex screws pass through the shank and screw into insert bolts in the body. The armrest is thin, flexible, and very strong. Its use allows a significant amount of weight to be removed from the body, reducing the net weight of the entire instrument while also significantly increasing its comfort. The pickups are two Lindy Fralin P-90s built to the dimensions of PAF pickups. This configuration allows for easy pickup changes. The electronics are Emerson: Two volumes and two tones. Emerson Bumblebee Paper in Oil capacitors, .022uf for the bridge and .015uf for the neck. A Centralab Right Angle switch is used for the three-way toggle. The tuners are Kluson 3+3 Locking Revolution Series G-mount tuners. The finish is a 30-coat nitrocellulose lacquer finish. A Mono soft case is included.
