The Complete Atari Home Console Journey (1977-1996)

👉 Between 1977 and the mid-1990s, Atari built one of the most important home-console legacies in gaming history. From the pioneering Atari 2600 and the more powerful 5200 to the 7800, the unusual XEGS, and finally the ambitious Jaguar and Jaguar CD, each system reflected a company adapting to a rapidly changing industry it had helped create. In this complete retrospective, we explore Atari’s entire home-console journey, covering the Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, XEGS, Jaguar and Jaguar CD. Spanning nearly two decades of releases, this journey follows Atari from its early dominance of home gaming through the video game crash, its attempts to regain momentum during the Nintendo era, and its final push into the increasingly competitive 32-bit generation. From early cartridge classics and arcade-inspired hits to the experimental hardware and 3D ambitions of the Jaguar, Atari’s console history captures some of the biggest shifts in the evolution of home gaming. This video celebrates the games, hardware and ideas that helped Atari shape the early console industry and traces the remarkable journey of a company that went from defining the market to fighting for a place in the generations that followed. ----------------------------------------------- ✅ Continue the journey through gaming history: Arcade Era (1972–1999)    • The Complete Arcade Era in 1000 Games   Atari 2600 (1977–1992)    • The Complete Atari 2600 Library (1977-1992)   Intellivision (1979–1990)    • The Complete Intellivision Library (1979-1...   Nintendo NES (1985–1994)    • The Complete NES Library (1985–1994)   Sega Master System (1986–1994)    • The Complete Sega Master System Library (1...   Sega Genesis / Mega Drive (1989–1997)    • The Complete Sega Genesis / Mega Drive Lib...   Nintendo SNES (1991–1998)    • The Complete SNES Library (1991–1998)   Sega Saturn (1995-1998)    • The Complete Sega Saturn Library (1995-1998)   Nintendo 64 (1996–2002)    • The Complete N64 Library (1996–2002)   Sega Dreamcast (1999–2002)    • The Complete Sega Dreamcast Library (1999-...   ----------------------------------------------- 🔔 We're on a journey to celebrate the games, consoles, and memories that shaped generations.
