Kaushiki Amavasya is considered one of the most important days for the worship of Tara Ma, especially at Tarapith Temple. According to Shakta traditions, this Amavasya is associated with the manifestation of the fierce and protective form of the Divine Mother. Devotees believe that worshipping Tara Ma on this night brings blessings, protection, spiritual strength, and the removal of obstacles. On Kaushiki Amavasya: Thousands of devotees visit Tarapith. Special pujas, homas, and night-long worship are performed. Many devotees observe fasting and chant Tara Ma's mantras. The day is regarded as especially powerful for spiritual practices. For many Bengalis, it is one of the most sacred nights dedicated to Tara Ma throughout the year.
